So so wonderful. All of it! Merci. Thank you so much for the warm welcome in Gul Baba House. Turkey has exceeded our expectations. Much love and many more years of exploring your Turkey.

Thank you so much! We and the four kids had a real wonderful time in your Gul Baba House over the past two weeks. We loved sitting in the big veranda, enjoying the roof-top of Kalkan and having endless talks about the beauty of this lovely part of Turkey. Peter took great care of us and was a perfect local guide and support. We hope you will preserve the house and we would love the chance to visit it a second time.

We have had a great time exploring and relaxing in equal measure. We would particularly recommend Patara for the beach and ruins, Tilos and Yaka Park for Lycian ruins, fantastic views and wonderful lunch. We would also recommend Kas and the water taxi to Liman Agzi beach. If you have more energy, the walk up the Lycian way from up the road to the hilltops behind the house is amazing for views but good footwear is essential. All in all a very good week.

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home! We came to Turkey for our honeymoon, and we could not have found a more beautiful, relaxing and romantic spot to spend the first few days of our marriage. We enjoyed eating meals on the terraces, napping on the hammock, and taking in the spectacular views. Thank you also for your guide, your restaurant recommendations were superb and we loved sight-seeing at Patara and Xanthos. This is truly a space we will be talking about for our whole lives. Thank you for this wonderful home. We hope we'll get to come back!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. This is such a special place. It is a magnificent house with all the beautiful furniture. Our family found the kindest peace in the sounds, sunsets and scenery. The people were so kind and Peter took such good care of us – looking in on us often. We hope to be back soon.

After our long days out exploring the region your home was a wonderful refuge. It is of no surprise that you have chosen this house of lemon trees and beautiful views as your home in the East. It is not with our mom, we shall certainly be returning here with our own families. A big thank you!

Dear Steve and Mike – What a beautiful place! Even in March without the name-giving-roses, the house and the garden with its lemon trees were inviting. We enjoyed every room, the terraces for breakfast and dinner. Patara beach was our favourite excursion. Thanks a lot to Peter and his recommendations and help.

We have loved staying in Gul Baba. The house has been wonderfully spacious and comfortable. The glorious view something to treasure. Even the days of torrential rain were spectacular! Hope to come back soon.

Thank you – a glorious break from the hectic life in the UK but the WiFi was a boon when work intruded. We top up residence in the top third of the house with the terrace as our living room. Wonderful view and sense of space. After 22 years, a lovely return to this part of the Turkey.

First time back in 25 years; much has changed but thankfully much is just the same. Thank you for the wonderful place to stay, a house with character in a town that needs more houses with character, but does not want for characters with houses. This time around I have a family with me and we have all loved the place, the exploring, the swimming, the history. We leave for home tomorrow refreshed, a little sad and much wiser about all manner of things from Lycian tombs to Roman aqueducts, from the best way to eat a trout to the best little boat in Kalkan harbour. Thanks to Peter and his help.

Stay number two at the very relaxing Gul Baba. I'll be back again!

I was ready for some R&R after swimming 30k around Kas and I found it at Gul Baba. I can't believe it took me so long to visit. Mike was an excellent tour guide (aided by Steve's manuscript) as we ate trout and figs, visited Elmali and the winery, rummaged around ruins and the beach. Many thanks for your endless hospitality.

We have spent a wonderful week in Gul Baba house, beautifully located on the hillside with its dense flowering garden and lovely manifold verandas. With temperatures rising to almost 45 degrees during daytime and 30 degrees at night, was had to use AC when sleeping and to stay most of the time by the sea. The house worked perfectly for a family of four. Most of the time was spent on the upper terrace, especially early morning and late nights. Thanks again for a spectacular week in Kalkan.

Many thanks for the use of your beautiful home this past week. We loved it and we will be back without a doubt. For me, coming back to Turkey after 14 years was amazing, and Kalkan brought back some great memories too. The place has certainly changed, but it still has a wonderful feel to it. We had some lovely evenings out on the top patio, supping wine and taking in the vista. Look forward to returning next year.

We had a lovely, restful 10 days in your comfortable home. Thank you! The weather was fantastic and we found Kalkan an ideal place from which to explore the surrounding area.

We had a wonderful time. Thanks for opening your lovely house for us and other people. We could see lots of beautiful things inside your house and also in Kalkan. We also loved your garden. I hope we can manage to come here again. The information you gave us was perfect! It was easy to find everything and use the appliances in your house. Thanks for everything.

Thank you for opening your lovely home to us. Thanks for the best vacation ever! With reluctance we had back to Ankara, but hopefully in our remaining two years we can visit your lovely Gül Baba Evi again. Even in your absence and though we've never met, you were wonderful hosts! We felt like we had our own personal guides thanks to your list of places to see, ruins to visit and other adventures near and far. The girls enjoyed exploring the beaches, and my fascination with ancient ruins was fully satiated with visits to Xanthos, Patara, the aqueduct, Pinara, Kekova and a too brief drive by at Kayakoy. Finding your recommended trout restaurant in Islamlar and lounging under the grape arbour for a lovely trout dinner was huge hit with friends visiting from North Carolina. They also fell in love with your carpet in the front hall so off we to the carpet weaver's association where we found a similar carpet. The kids LOVED the silk demonstration and brought cocoons back to the house and spent days unwinding the silk and dying it with homemade dyes from lovely flowers in your garden.

We had a wonderful and relaxing time in your lovely house and enjoyed Turkey very much; the magnificent ancient monuments, the beaches, the views on the seaside when we travelled around the stunning landscape and the hospitable people we met everywhere. Due to your small, individual guide it was easy to find the most exciting places. It was charming waking up in the morning and to enjoy the fantastic views of the sea and to spend the last hours of the day on the roof terrace gazing at the stars. Thanks a lot for offering us the opportunity to stay in your beautiful residence.

We had a great time during our short stay here at your beautiful place. The views and the BBQ are my personal favourites; and we all enjoyed the comfort and relaxation of Gul Baba House. Many thanks from Lebanon and America

An amazing place where there is something for everyone. At the heart was the lovely house where we felt at home and had everything we needed. We hope it is only the beginning. Many thanks.

We have spent a wonderful dreamy 11 days in your lovely refuge here in Kalkan. On this, our last day, we feel quite sad to be leaving but at the same time rejuvenated, relaxed and ready to get back to the reality of our daily lives in Montreal. We had the opportunity see and do so much: swimming in the glorious turquoise-blue waters of the Med (Caretta Caretta was our favourite); marvelling at the extraordinary historic ruins; scuba diving, paragliding over Olu Deniz; enjoying lazy boat trips, shopping till we dropped at the local markets; and savouring the freshest tasting fruits and vegetables in the local cuisine. And every evening returning to your magical mountainside villa to reflect on the sights and sounds of the day whilst feasting our eyes on the spectacular view of Kalkan Bay. We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have been able to visit this special corner of the world. Our only regret was not having the opportunity to meet you in person.

This has been a wonderful house to stay in for a restful holiday. We so much needed the warmth and sun and the sea.

Thank you so much for a truly wonderful and memorable holiday. The house is beautiful and so comfortable; the food was great and some many wonderful sites to visit. I hope you have many very happy days to come back to this lovely place, and that I too will return soon.

Gül Baba House was serene and beautiful in the spring: think waist-high wildflowers and baby animals. Its location in Kalkan is perfect for exploring breathtaking countryside, ancient ruins and meeting friendly locals. Gül Baba was super cozy and luxurious returning from a full day of exploring. Can't wait to go back!

We – 2 adults and 2 children – found the place extremely comfortable and relaxing with stunning views across the bay. The facilities are excellent including a safe garden for the boys to play in. We had a fantastic stay.
-- CD, London

Before me, the blue, blue sea, above me the most brilliant stars and surrounding me in any direction the echoes of the ancient world of Lycia. Gül Baba House – I'm coming back for more.
-- ML, Hong Kong

Sit on the deck and watch the sun go down with a bottle of wine, while cooking a BBQ on the big terrace, explore the Lycian Way, contemplate the olive trees, just give yourself a rest!
